Out Now – Crossfire EP ( 2db, Tantrum Desire, Dub Foundation,Dushi,L Plus & Erb n Dub ) Technique Recordings

January 15, 2012 - 8:41 am No Comments

Crossfire EP -- Various Artists -- Out Jan 15th 2012

Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Technique’s label bosses turn the spotlight onto a hand-picked selection of other producers in this EP. While remaining unashamedly D&B, these six tunes draw on additional influences of dubstep and electro to show off new facets to the genre. From the opening low-end salvoes of 2DB’s VIRUS, and into Tantrum Desire’s expert synth-manipulation in Uncontrolled, all the way to the final track,Replica by Erb N Dub & L Plus, we see multiple styles effortlessly twisted into the breakbeat and bassline paradigm. Along the way, we’re treated to a solo workout from L Plus in the form of Gas Grenade, a female perspective from Technique newcomer Dushi in Candarel, and Dub Foundation’s Atlantic, a departure from their usual style. Overall, this EP is a blueprint for bass-heavy music going into 2012. And, given that Technique’s releases have consistently received Radio 1 and 1Xtra airplay from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Fabio & Grooverider, and Annie Nightingale, it’s easy to see that these tracks are going to become a mainstay of raves and airwaves too.

Tracklist

1. 2DB – VIRUS
2. Tantrum Desire – Uncontrolled
3. L Plus – Gas Grenade
4. Dushi – Candarel
5. Dub Foundation – Atlantic
6. Erb N Dub & L Plus – Replica

Dub Foundation are back with an EP that will knock your drumstep socks off…
The masters of drumstep have been working away in the studio to craft this 4
track monster sounding package. ‘Subsonic EP’ brings you four beautiful new tracks
from the pair behind such weighty mixes as Mr Blonde and Time to Burn.
Midlands production duo Mike and Lee are consistently at the top of their game
and ‘Subsonic’ is no exception.
The tracks all have that trademark style and sound combining drumstep with other styles,
and beats so confusing they can only mean dancefloor euphoria.
‘Subsonic’, ‘Speakerfreaker’, ‘On your Own’ and ‘Locutus’ are the four tracks on everyone’s mind.
Each brings a different asset to any Djs set list and each of these tracks showcase their heavy grimy
bass and quick beat perfection, in turn infused with synth and haunting robotic vocals.
Dub Foundation have once again smashed it and this extended player is another hit from the Technique duo.

‘Subsonic’ is OUT NOW!!!

Dub Foundation: No1 spot in the Kmag Top 10 Drumstep Producers To Watch In 2011

January 29, 2011 - 10:00 am No Comments

10 Drumstep Producers To Watch In 2011

With the recent rise in drumstep, we are seeing all sorts of jungle and dubstep acts take on the sound. With well known DJs such as Capital J, Grooverider and Reso including more and more drumstep in their sets, it seems that this year will be the biggest yet for the genre. This list consists of some of the acts we’ve watched over the past year that are going to be doing big things in 2011.

1. Dub Foundation
In this list, we wanted to stay away from the obvious giants of drumstep like Taxman and Heist, but there is no way you can talk about drumstep in 2011 without talking about Dub Foundation. These guys are making some of the best tunes in the game right now in any genre and they are already bringing the heat again this year. With bookings just about every day of the week and releases on Technique Recordings you will have to be living in a cave to stay away from these guys.

2. Dirty Deeds

3. DJ Premium

4. Bilsiac

5. Dstruct.O

6. Sensai

7. Wondawulf

8. Destro

9. D-Queue

10. Tonz of Drumz

Of course there are a lot of people that we’ve missed on this list that are absolutely amazing that we have to at least mention so here goes:

Alexandre, Arctor, BadKlaat, Bassnectar, Breakneck, Brockout, Cleveland Steamer, Crissy Criss, Crystal Clear, Danejah, Danny Thunders, Dark Senses, Datsik, Decimal Bass, Depone, Diesel, Direct Feed, DJ Hazard, Dj Tre, DJVC, Dr Philth, Dub Peddla, DubSac, Fine Print, Heavyarmz, Heist,  Hoax, Hoogs, Invaders From Mars, Jogo, J.Rabbit, Kanji Kinetic, Kinzy, Korea, Krookz, Macky Gee, Mischief n Mayhem, Mutated Forms, Narky, Original Sin, Peckers and Dusty, Prestige, Reso, Rob Swire, Serjah 9, Shock One, Skorpio, Skrubz,  Sonwah Fresh, S.P.E.C.T.R.E, Stickbubbly, Sub Focus, Subsonik, Taxman, Terravita, The Medics, Urban Assault, Vast, Vermin, VIP Hacks, Yellow Bastard, Youngman, Zen, Zound Collecton.

Dub Foundation- Mr Blonde/ Time to Burn – Out Now

January 24, 2011 - 9:35 pm No Comments

Dub Foundation – Mr Blonde/ Time to Burn

Label: Worldwide Audio Recordings
Cat No: War 029
Format: digital

Release Date: 30th Jan – ( Out Now )

Dub Foundation are starting 2011 with a bang. Mr Blonde/Time to Burn will be their heaviest release to date.

Midlands DJs Mike Dub Foundation and Lee Dub Foundation Ford are known for their weighty mixes, and gave us ‘Return’ and ‘Cosmic Ray’ last year. The duo are proving that they’ve still got ‘it’ in 2011 with an extended player so heavy that it packs a punch.

Dub Foundation have put together a collection of genre defying music, and have unofficially trademarked a drumstep fusion between drum and bass and dubstep. The new release combines intense bass and hypnotic beats weaving in and out of grimy dance floor bass and stripped back Euphoria.

The extended player offers the original ‘Mr Blonde’ and ‘Cornered’ and two mixes of ‘Time to Burn’; a drumstep and a drum and bass version. It shows off the mixed style of Dub Foundation and proves the pair have enough talent to manipulate dancefloors all over the world.

With shows including ‘Dubstepic’ in Belgium coming up, and plans to cause worldwide dancefloor devastation by going global, 2011 is going to be Dub Foundation’s year, and it promises to be a big bad bass-filled year.
