Drumsound & Bassline Smith don’t open the books very often, but, fresh for 2017, they have a brand new exclusive signing to report. For them to add to the elite Technique Recordings roster alongside artists like Tantrum Desire, L Plus and Document One means they’ve found something special. And, in this case, that something comes in the form of T Phonic & Deadman, about to make their mark with their debut release “Scare Tactics” / “Reflections VIP”.

Of course, the Technique faithful will already know this production duo from euphoric, sunlit tracks like “Show Me the Way” and the Radio 1, Kiss and Apple Music-supported “Reflections”. But, although those tunes mark the beginning of their collaboration, these two producers’ musical roots go a lot deeper, and way more eclectic.

T Phonic is only the latest in a long line of Doctor Who-style regenerations. Starting as a saxophonist and migrating to turntables in his teens, before making a name for himself as Kinetics, this producer has constantly evolved. Along the way, his accomplishments have been as diverse as collaborating with Sigma, releasing on labels like Viper and Titan, featuring on a 200,000-selling compilation, garnering support from deejays ranging from Hype to Fearne Cotton… And that only just scratches the surface.

Then we have Deadman, with another packed CV. Mid-nineties whistle and horn crew may well be more familiar with his hardcore alter ego, DJ Storm (or, more recently, Al Storm). Or, maybe you know him from his bass & breaks personae Eat Rave or Black & White. For some, though, his most iconic moment will be when he provided backing music for the BBC’s coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Taken altogether, it’s an array of credits to make any producer jealous.

So, even though the T Phonic & Deadman team-up is relatively recent, these two artists are proper, battle-hardened veterans. Excitingly, they’ve each carved their own path, and the the concoction of their disparate musical journeys is bound to be powerful. We’ve had a small taste so far, but now that they’ve signed to Technique exclusively the countdown is on. Get set for the detonation. T Phonic & Deadman are here.
