2019 has been a highly significant year in the history of Technique Recordings, but you know that already. Tracks from their ’20 Years of Technique’ double-album release have scorched a trail across raves, airwaves and download charts.
The Technique Music Academy, founded earlier this year, has already helped propel its first students to the next level of their careers. And that’s before we even get into the volley of singles and EPs that have seen them reach beyond the milestone TECH 200 catalogue number. So, you couldn’t really be blamed if you’d missed a couple of Technique bits this year. There’s been a lot.
Luckily, the ‘Technique Annual 2019’ is here to help you fill in the gaps. This year’s Annual really shows off the spectrum-wide appeal of the label. There are the huge anthemic bangers that have lit up festivals this year, including North Base & No Concept’s ‘No Man’s Land’, Tantrum Desire’s ‘Shimmy’ and the mighty ‘Last Forever’ by Drumsound & Bassline Smith.
But then we’re taken one step more emotive with the silky vibes of tunes like Kit’s ‘Losing You’ and Smooth’s euphoric ‘Forever’. Legendary names including Ellis Dee and Aquasky feature next to young bucks like Exile and No Concept. Jump-up from Profile & Sub Killaz’s ‘Give You the World’ remix stands alongside the junglist rollage of Aries & Nicky Blackmarket’s rework of ‘Kilimanjaro’.
And the first single from Drumsound & Bassline Smith and Tantrum Desire’s joint project Technique International Sound offers a tantalising hint at what 2020 might have to offer. Laid out over twenty-one tracks, this summary of what Technique Recordings has offered the scene this year tells an epic story.
Representing a multitude of styles and flavours, certified hall-of-famers as well as newer artists, always with the utmost attention to quality control, this is the blueprint that has kept Technique in business for the last twenty years. Now, let’s see what they’ve got in store for the next two decades.
